Sensex soars 233 pts, Nifty rises above 18,750; all sectors trade in green

Domestic equities inched slightly higher on Friday tracking buoyant global markets. BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 78.30 points, or 0.12 per cent to 62,995.93, while broader NSE Nifty50 climbed 32.85 points, or 0.18 per cent to 18,720.95.

By 9.30 am, Sensex soared 233.04 points, or 0.37 per cent to trade at 63,150.67, while Nifty50 gained 68.60 points, or 0.37 per cent to 18,756.70.

Broader markets extended key indices’ rally and were outperforming in the opening trade, as Nifty Smallcap 100 jumped 0.77 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 50 rose 0.76 per cent, Nifty Next 50 gained 0.51 per cent, while Nifty Microcap 250 soared 0.87 per cent.

By 9.30 am, all sectors were turned green, as the Nifty Metal index gained 0.97 per cent, the realty index jumped 0.96 per cent, PSU Bank and healthcare indices rose 0.82 per cent, and the metal index followed the rally at 0.76 per cent.

Indigo soared 1.22 per cent after data showed that India’s biggest civil carrier’s market share in May zoomed past 60 per cent.

Hero MotoCorp slipped 0.60 per cent, after reports said that the government has ordered a probe into the alleged diversion of funds by the company.

TCS, Hero MotoCorp, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, Wipro, BPCL, Bajaj Auto, NTPC, L&T, and IndusInd Bank were the top losers in the opening trade.

On the other hand, Dr Reddy, Hindalco, HDFC Life, JSW Steel, Divis Lab, HCLTech, ICICI Bank, Grasim, and Reliance Industries were the top gainers at this hour.
