Sensex, Nifty trade flat; Jio Financial Services hit 5% lower circuit for 3rd session straight

Domestic equities started flat on a positive bias on Wednesday amid mixed global sentiments. BSE benchmark Sensex opened at 65,300.93, while broader NSE Nifty50 started the session at 19,439.20.

By 9.30 am, key indices slipped in negative, as Sensex was trading 19.28 points, or 0.03 per cent to trade at 65,200.75, and Nifty50 was flat at 19,396.95.

Broader markets were performing better than the key indices in the opening session. Except for India Vix, all indices were trading in green, as Nifty Midcap 50 gained 0.49 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 250 jumped 0.48 per cent, Nifty Microcap 250 gained 0.77 per cent, Nifty Midsmallcap 400 climbed 0.42 per cent, and Nifty Midcap Select rose 0.38 per cent.

Sectorally, Nifty Metal gained 1 per cent, followed by Nifty Media gained 0.87 per cent, Nifty Consumer Durables climbed 0.75 per cent, the IT index jumped 0.34 per cent, and PSU Bank index gained 0.32 per cent.

Shares of Jio Finacial Services Limited hit 5 per cent lower circuit on the BSE for the third day in a row after the company was listed on exchanges on Monday. The stock was trading at Rs 227.25 on BSE.
