Sensex jumps over 300 pts, Nifty above 18,150, all sectors trading in green
Domestic equities climbed higher to start the week in positive on Tuesday, tracking global cues and key Q4 results.
All sectors were trading in green at open, as BSE benchmark Sensex opened 248.4 points, or 0.41 per cent higher to 61,360.84, while broader NSE Nifty jumped 74.50 points, or 0.41 per cent to open at 18,139.50.
By 9.30 am, Sensex jumped 336.58 points, or 0.55 per cent to 61,455.05, while, Nifty50 gained 91.80 points, or 0.51 per cent to 18,156.80.
Adani Green Energy hit the upper circuit limit in the opening trade, up 5 per cent, after the company’s net profit jumped four-fold to Rs 507 crore in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, NDTV tanked 1.21 per cent to trade at Rs 187.15 after the media company’s profit plunged nearly 98 per cent on weak advertising demand.
UltraTech Cement fell as much as 0.77 per cent in the early trade after the company’s Q4 profit fell 36 per cent on a yearly basis.
Infosys was the top gainer in the Sensex pack by 9.30 am as the stock jumped 1.19 per cent to trade at Rs 1,267.45 on BSE. UPL, Eicher Motors, Hindalco, ONGC, SBI Life, Wipro, Nestle India, and L&T were the top gainers in the morning trade.
Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Tata Motors, UltraTech Cement, Sun Pharma were the losing stocks at this hour.
In the early trade, broader markets also extended key indices’ rally as Nifty MidCap Select jumped 1.02 per cent, and Nifty Midcap 50 rose 0.86 per cent. Nifty Microcap 50 jumped 0.84 per cent, while, Nifty Smallcap 250 gained 0.79 per cent.
Sectorally, the IT and media index were the top gainers in the morning trade, as both sectors jumped 0.71 per cent.
