Sensex jumps 385 pts, Nifty rallies over 19,250; Tata Motors shine
Domestic equities rallied for the second day straight tracking global cues. BSE benchmark Sensex climbed 384.84 points, or 0.60 per cent to 64,465.74, while broader Nifty 50 jumped 124.70 points, or 0.65 per cent to 19,257.95.
In the 30-share Sensex index, only Asian Paints, Tata Steel, and NTPC were trading in red at the time of writing.
Tata Motors rallied over 2 per cent after the automobile major posted its fourth consecutive quarterly profit as sales of Jaguar Land Rover continued to jump. At the time of writing, the company’s stock was trading 2.23 per cent higher at Rs 651 on BSE.
Apollo Hospitals, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, Hero MotoCorp, Tech Mahindra, Hindalco, UPL, Infosys, LTI Mindtree, ICICI Bank, Adani Enterprises, Coal India, Britannia, HCLTech, Sun Pharma, M&M, and Cipla were the top gainers in the morning session
Barring India Vix, all broader market indices were trading in green, as Nifty Smallcap 50 rose 1.44 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 100 jumped 1.21 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 250 gained 0.97 per cent, followed by Nifty Microcap 250 rising 0.84 per cent, Nifty 500 0.67 per cent, Nifty Midcap 100 0.65 per cent.
All sectors were trading in green at open, as Nifty Metal and the healthcare index jumped 0.98 per cent, the IT index rallied 0.85 per cent, realty climbed 0.83 per cent, media gained 0.79 per cent, PSU Bank jumped 0.76 per cent, and pharma gained 0.73 per cent.
