Sensex down 200 pts, Nifty below 22K in broad-selling

Despite strong global cues, domestic equities were volatile in early Thursday’s trade with the benchmark indices.

The S&P BSE Sensex fell 156 points to trade at 72,560, while the Nifty50 dropped around 50 points to quote near 22,000 levels.

The broader indices, which were seen outperforming the frontline indices, erased gains with the BSE MidCap and the BSE SmallCap indices slipping up to 0.5 per cent.

Among sectors, the Nifty Metal index gained 0.7 per cent, while the Nifty Pharma fell 0.2 per cent.
