Sensex dips 350pts, Nifty at 21580; Adani stocks fire up
Equity benchmark indices declined for a second day on Wednesday, tracking losses in global markets. The BSE Sensex fell 210 points to 71,680 and the NSE Nifty50 slipped 48 points to 21,618.
Infosys, Wipro, HCL Tech, Tata Steel, Tech M, JSW Steel and Axis Bank led losses on the Sensex, while Hindalco was the additional loser on the Nifty.
On the flip side, ITC, Bajaj Finserv, Dr Reddy’s, ONGC, Nestle, M&M were among the few frontline gainers.
Adani Group stocks fired up in early deals with Adani Ent, Adani Ports, Adani Energy, Adani Wilmar and Adani Total Gas surging 3-10 per cent ahead of the Supreme Court’s final verdict on the Hindenburg allegations.
The broader markets were mixed. The BSE MidCap index sat 0.3 per cent down and the SmallCap pocket was flat.
Among sectors, Nifty IT and Nifty Metals were the worst hit, down 1 per cent each.
