Sensex climbs 370 pts, Nifty advances to 19,549; Adani stocks gains, JioFin slumps 5%
Domestic equities soared higher on Thursday led by gains in metal, bank and metal stocks. BSE benchmark Sensex opened at 65,722.51, up 289.21 points, while broader NSE Nifty50 gained 91.15 points to open at 19,535.15.
By 9.30 am, Sensex gained 371.10 points, or 0.57 per cent to trade at 65,804.40, while Nifty50 jumped 105.00 points, or 0.54 per cent to trade at 19,549.
All sectors were trading in green, as Nifty Media gained 0.95 per cent, the PSU Bank and realty indices gained 0.82 per cent, Nifty Metal climbed 0.77 per cent, the IT index gained 0.75 per cent, and Nifty Private Bank surged 0.68 per cent.
Broader markets also extended the rally, as only India Vix was trading in red, down 6.24 per cent. Nifty Midcap 50 and 100 gained 0.84 per cent each, Nifty Smallcap 50 rose 0.80 per cent, Nifty Microcap 350 rose 0.84 per cent, Nifty Midcap Select gained 0.77 per cent, and Nifty Midcap 150 rose 0.75 per cent.
Jio Financial Services continued its downward rally for the fourth day straight and hit 5 per cent lower circuit. The stock was locked at Rs 213.45 in the lower circuit today.
In the Sensex pack, only Jio Financial Services was trading in red, while in the Nifty50 index, only JioFin and Eicher Motors were trading in negative.
Stocks that led the rally today were Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, L&T, Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra, UltraTech Cement, IndusInd Bank, BPCL, Infosys, Power Grid, Titan and UPL.
