Sensex at day’s high, up 150 pts; Bharti Hexacom IPO subscribed 6% so far
Equity markets were listless in intraday deals on Wednesday, tracking losses in global peers, as prospects of an early rate cut in the US reduced.
The S&P BSE Sensex touched a low of 73,540, and then rebounded into the positive zone. The BSE benchmark was up 50 points at 73,960 levels. The NSE Nifty 50 was seen quoting around the 22,450 levels.
UltraTech Cement gained nearly 2 per cent after the company announced its plans to invest up to Rs 32,400 crore in the next three years as part of its ongoing expansion. Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies were the other prominent gainers. On the other hand, Bharti Airtel, Nestle, Sun Pharma and select banks were the top losers.
In the broader market, the BSE MidCap advanced 0.2 per cent, and the SmallCap added 1 per cent
