Poland Recognices Covishield Vaccine as Valid Proof of Immunity for Travel
Poland has joined the list of European countries that recognize the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine Covishield, manufactured in India, as a valid proof of immunity for travel.
Such an announcement confirmed by the Embassy of Poland means that citizens of India who have completed their immunization process against the Coronavirus are eligible to travel to Poland without being obliged to follow quarantine rules upon their arrival in the Central European country, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
“Poland has recognized Covishield as a vaccine equivalent to those recognized by the European Union, exempting from quarantine after entering the territory of the Republic of Poland,’‘ the embassy pointed out in an announcement on Twitter.
Besides Poland, the following countries also approved the Covishield vaccine for travel:
Austria – Belgium – Hungary – Greece – Spain – Croatia – Switzerland – France – Germany – Sweden – Iceland –
Latvia – Netherlands – Slovenia – Finland – Bulgaria – Spain – Romania
A total of 3,008,394 people have tested positive for the Coronavirus and its new strains in Poland since the beginning of the pandemic, while more than 76,800 people have died, based on the official figures provided by the World Health Organization (WHO). In addition, the same source shows that the Central European country has recorded 9,403 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours and 102 deaths.
However, despite those figures, previously, authorities in Poland opened their doors to all vaccinated travelers who hold a valid EU Digital COVID-19 Certificate, following the example of other European Union and Schengen Zone countries, in a bid to ease the travel process.
Back then, the press release issued by the country’s government stressed that Poland only recognized the vaccines approved for use by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The following vaccines are approved by EMA, meaning that all persons who have completed their immunization process with any of the vaccines mentioned above are eligible to travel to Poland without being obliged to follow additional requirements upon their arrival, such as quarantine rules.

Poland’s government also clarified that a person is considered completely immunized against the virus only if at least two weeks have passed since the last vaccine dose has been taken. Furthermore, the vaccination should be issued following the EU Digital COVID-19 Certificate rules and must be provided in English or Polish.
