Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a dig at Congress after the Income Tax department seized Rs 350 crore in black money and approximately 3 kg of gold ornaments from the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu.

Referring to the popular ‘Money Heist’ drama, the Prime Minister said that the Congress has been looting the country for 70 years now.

“In India, who needs ‘Money Heist’ fiction, when you have the Congress Party, whose heists are legendary for 70 years and counting!” PM Modi said in a post on X. He also attached a video shared by the BJP with the caption, ““Congress presents the ‘Money Heist!’”

ODISHA CASH HAUL
The Income Tax department seized a record Rs 353 crore in cash during the raids at properties linked to Congress MP Dheeraj Sahu at multiple locations in Odisha and Jharkhand.

The cash haul is the “highest-ever” in a single action by any probe agency in the country, according to officials.

Following the recovery of over Rs 350 crore cash, ruling party in Odisha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the BJP, and the Congress started blame game and traded charges.

The opposition BJP in Odisha alleged that the BJD government had given a free hand to the Sahu brothers to undertake the country liquor business in Odisha in the past two decades.

The BJD shot back at BJP, saying that while the saffron party’s national leadership questioned Congress, the BJP leaders in the state are targeting the state government.

“Odisha BJP leaders are doing just the opposite here. In a way, Odisha BJP leaders have pledged to somehow save the Congress on this issue,” a BJD spokesperson said.

However, Congress claimed that it was unnecessarily dragged into the controversy by the BJD and BJP and termed that both these parties are both sides of a coin.
