India is celebrating its 78th Independence Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations and unfurled the national flag from the iconic Red Fort on Thursday, August 15.

For the Independence Day 2024 celebrations, PM Modi donned a multi-coloured Rajasthani leheriya print turban paired with a white kurta and churidar. He also sported a light blue bandhgala jacket.

Ahead of his Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort, PM Modi paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in New Delhi.

The Prime Minister also extended a greeting to ‘fellow Indians’.

After unfurling the tricolour, PM Modi delivered his 11th consecutive Independence Day address, joining Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi as the only Prime Ministers to reach this milestone.
