‘Not about Adani’: Nishikant Dubey’s ‘degreewali desh beche’ jibe at Mahua Moitra

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on Wednesday launched a fresh attack on Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra and said the question is whether the MP’s Parliament login was opened in Dubai or not, whether she asked questions in exchange for money or not — and not about Adani or Nishikant Dubey’s degree, but about the dignity of Parliament.

The jibe came as Mahua Moitra has been accused of taking bribes from industrialist Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for questions against Adani in Parliament. While the ethics committee investigated the allegations brought by Nishikant Dubey, Mahua Moitra held her ground against the ‘BJP’s hit job’ and said Dubey’s fake degree should be investigated first.

Ashwini Vaishnaw’s letter to Nishikant Dubey

On Tuesday, Union IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw wrote a letter to Nishikant Dubey and said that the allegations that he raised over ‘cash for questions’ were serious. National Informatics Centre which comes under the IT ministry will cooperate with the investigation of the Committee on Ethics in this regard.

Mahua Moitra said Nishikant Dubey already claimed that NIC game details of “Dubai logins” to the probe agency. “Who is lying,” Mahua Moitra said calling it a hit job against her engineered by “not best strategists”.

Error of judgement: Darshan Hiranandani

Industrialist Darshan Hiranandani who was accused of bribing Mahua for questions against Adani in Parliament admitted to the charges and said it was an error of his judgement. “I think that me being entangled in this whole matter is an error of my judgement. And like I said, I’ve been very clear and explicit in my affidavit about what happened. And, you know, I’ve got nothing more to add as far as that’s concerned,” Dubai-based Hiranandani recently said in a TV interview. He said he was under no pressure to sign the affidavit as Mahua Moitra claimed the PMO must have threatened him to sign the affidavit. “The affidavit is signed by me, signed by me voluntarily, no fear, no favour. Testimony of that is that I had it notarized at the Indian consulate in Dubai. Since I am in Dubai, I had it notarized in the Indian Consulate in Dubai. Then I sent it to the Privilege Committee of Lok Sabha and copied to CBI and Dr. Nishikant Dubey by email.” Hiranandani said.
