Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has launched a Monsoon Trekking program from Tambdi Surla-Mollem in South Goa to lure more tourists, and boost tourism in hinterland areas.

Referring to this, GTDC chairman Ganesh Gaonkar stated that the concept of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava,’ would be made meaningful in the coastal state. He added that every tourist visiting here should be safe and enjoy monsoon trekking.

With this, the chairman also added that locals will get employment through this.

Goa state government is focusing on hinterland tourism, and Gaonkar has also advised tourists to undergo trekking activities safely. If you too feel that monsoon and trekking make a deadly combination, here are some monsoon treks that you can check out in Goa.

Sonsogor Trek

Head to Sonsogar if you want to experience what it feels like when you are on top of the world. Sonsogor has one of the three highest peaks in the state, so it means a trek to this place will take you to the top of Goa. The trek takes around 2-3 hours.

Dudhsagar Trek

It’s famed as the 5th tallest waterfall in India. It would be safe to say that no words can describe the beauty of Dudhsagar, which is Goa’s most popular waterfall. It flows through the dense forests of the Western Ghats and the views will shock you with otherworldly beauty if you trek to this place during monsoons.

Hiveram Trek

Hiveram Falls is relatively a less explored part of Goa. The Hivre-Valpoi hike will take you through steep slopes, so a bit of trekking experience is required. An interesting thing to note is that there are three waterfalls located next to each other that avid hikers can cover in just one day.

Pali Waterfall Trek

This is another option of waterfall trekking in Goa. Although the path turns a bit slippery during monsoons, it does not stop trekkers from going the extra mile and trying it. Since it lies in one of the densest forest areas of Goa, the views turn beautiful as you venture deep inside the forests.
