Ambassadors from Over 70 Countries Participate in a Historic Gathering to Explore Investment Opportunities in the Northeast In a landmark initiative to promote the North Eastern Region as the next hub of growth, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) organized the Northeast Investors Summit – ‘Purvodaya’, drawing participation from Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives of over 70 countries — marking one of the highest foreign representations in recent engagements.

The Summit was held in the esteemed presence of Union Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of State Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Pema Khandu. A special dinner was hosted by the Union Ministers for the participating dignitaries, reinforcing India’s commitment to enhancing global partnerships in the Northeast.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized the transformative journey of the region over the past decade, noting, “North East India is emerging as the investment hub of the globe — the centre of connectivity, rich in resources, and brimming with potential. If India today is a fast train, the North East is its growth engine.”

He highlighted the North East’s unmatched diversity and resources — spanning infrastructure, textiles, hospitality, tourism, sports, natural resources, flora and fauna — and reiterated that every state in the region is brimming with opportunities.

“We stand today on the brink of a historic transformation. I invite our global partners to be a part of this journey and experience the North East, where tradition meets transformation. Nothing replaces people-to-people contact — bring your people, your ideas, and be a part of the story,” he added.

Over the last 10 years, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Northeast has undergone unprecedented transformation — evolving into a gateway to Southeast Asia and a magnet for connectivity, commerce, and innovation. Government investments have catalyzed progress in infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, and skill development, making the region increasingly attractive for global investors.

With a young and aspirational population, increasing urbanization, and growing digital connectivity, the region is fast becoming a dynamic market.

Several leading international companies have already begun operations in the region. Notably, French companies such as TotalEnergies, Dassault Systèmes, Airbus, Decathlon, and PUMA are implementing impactful projects in Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Mizoram, reflecting rising confidence in the Northeast’s potential for both industrial growth and sustainable development.

The Summit successfully positioned the Northeast not only as India’s cultural and natural treasure but also as a global investment destination and strategic economic corridor for the future.
