Markets continue record run as Nifty hits 20,110, Sensex soars 380 points

The bull run continued on D-street on Tuesday as Nifty50 hit a record high for the second day, above 20k mark, as it touched 20,110.35 at open. BSE benchmark Sensex gained 380 points to open at 67,506.88.

By 9.20 am, Sensex was trading 304.76 points, or 0.45 per cent higher at 67,431.84, while NSE Nifty50 jumped 76.95 points, or 0.38 per cent to trade at 20,073.30.

Broader markets also extended the rally, but were underperforming in comparison to key indices, as Nifty 100 gained 0.35 per cent, Nifty 200 jumped 0.31 per cent, Nifty 500 climbed 0.30 per cent, and Nifty Total Market rose 0.29 per cent.

Sectorally, Nifty Pharma rose 0.84 per cent, the healthcare index jumped 0.73 per cent, Nifty Bank jumped 0.43 per cent, the private bank index gained 0.41 per cent, and Nifty Financial Services jumped 0.39 per cent. Nifty Consumer Durables and Nifty Oil & Gas slipped 0.11 per cent, while Nifty Auto and Nifty FMCG indices were trading flat, in red.

L&T, Divis Lab, Dr Reddy, JSW Steel, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Axis Bank, UltraTech Cement, TCS, Hindalco, and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers in the opening session. Meanwhile, Adani Ports, Adani Enterprises, BPCL, Coal India, HUL, Maruti, NTPC, Nestle India, HDFC Life, and Reliance were the top laggards.
