The Aam Aadmi Party has begun its nationwide protests against the arrest of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor excise policy case.

Party workers are staging protests in Bhopal, Chandigarh, Delhi and other cities amid tight security. A large number of workers and supporters are also expected to gather outside the CBI headquarters in Delhi.

Sisodia was arrested on Sunday, after an eight-hour questioning session by the Central Bureau of Investigation. However, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said there is no evidence against Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case and CBI officers were divided over arresting Sisodia.

“I am told that most CBI officers were against Manish’s arrest. All of them have huge respect for him and there is no evidence against him. But the political pressure to arrest him was so high that they had to obey their political masters,” Kejriwal said in a tweet.
