Madhya Pradesh launches intra-state air taxis; travel time between Bhopal and Indore reduced to mere 55 minutes
The much-awaited intra-state air taxi services have been finally launched in Madhya Pradesh. The ambitious project named ‘PM Shri Payatan Vayu Seva’ by the Madhya Pradesh Aviation Department was unveiled recently making residents happy.
The air service will connect the major cities of Bhopal and Indore, reducing travel time to a mere 55 minutes compared to the nearly 4-hour road commute between the two places.
Not only this, passengers will be offered a 50% discount on fares, making air travel more accessible and affordable for residents. This groundbreaking initiative has promised to change the face of travel within the state for residents.
This launch marks a significant milestone in the state’s transportation infrastructure. By establishing air links between vital hubs like Bhopal and Indore, the initiative not only slashes travel duration but also injects vitality into local economies and amplifies tourism prospects statewide.
Honourable Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr Mohan Yadav Ji digitally launched the website for PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Seva in Bhopal on 11th June 2024.
Those commuting between Bhopal and Indore can now enjoy the convenience and efficiency of air travel. With a swift flight duration of just under an hour, this air service emerges as the go-to option for those with time-sensitive commitments, ensuring seamless connectivity and expeditious transit.
The government hopes to wield a positive impact across various sectors, including tourism, trade, and commerce with the introduction of this intra-state air service. The service introduces new avenues for business expansion and investment while facilitating streamlined access to major services such as healthcare and education throughout Madhya Pradesh.
The inaugural flight of the first air taxi in Madhya Pradesh, launched under the PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Seva, was flagged off by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. Departing from Bhopal, the flight took its maiden journey to Jabalpur, with the CM personally distributing boarding passes to passengers. Additionally, he inaugurated a dedicated ticket-booking counter for the convenience of those wishing to avail the service offline.
As of now, the aircraft can accommodate six passengers. But when the service gets popular and positive feedback, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board intends to introduce larger 11-seater and eventually 20-seater aircraft to further enhance connectivity and accessibility across the state.
This strategic move emphasises the government’s dedication to boosting regional connectivity and fostering economic growth through upgraded transportation networks.
