Johnny Depp’s lawyer gives fist pump as Amber Heard mentions ‘Kate Moss and staircase’ in court

Johhny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation trial has entertained us all on several levels. The high-profile case is currently in sub judice, however, the publicised court proceedings is still being widely discussed upon.

Now, a video from the court hearing is doing the rounds on the internet where Depp’s attorney, Ben Chu, is seen celebrating with a fist pump while the actor smiles during Amber Heard’s testimony. In the video, the actress can be heard referring to ‘Kate Moss and the staircase’ incident.

KATE MOSS AND THE STAIRCASE INCIDENT...

For the uninitiated, Depp has slapped a $50 million lawsuit on Heard for an opinion piece that she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. In her article, the actress claimed that she was a domestic abuse survivor. A new video of Johnny Depp and his lawyer is going viral on the internet now. In the video, Depp’s attorney Ben Chu is seen giving a fist pump as Amber Heard talks about the ‘Kate Moss and the staircase’ incident.

A LITTLE CONTEXT

So what was that about? During last week’s hearing, Amber Heard had spoken about an alleged altercation between Depp and her sister, Whitney. The actress recalled that at one point, Whitney was near a staircase “in the line of fire trying to get Johnny to stop,” which reminded her of a rumoured incident between Kate Moss and Johnny Depp. ” Heard said in court, “Whitney’s back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her. I don’t hesitate, I don’t wait — I just, in my head, instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs.”

“And I swung at him,” Heard said, and added, “In all of my relationship to date with Johnny, I hadn’t landed a blow. And I, for the first time, hit him — like, actually hit him. Square in the face.”

“I remembered information I had heard (that) he pushed a former girlfriend — I believe it was Kate Moss — down the stairs,” Heard had previously testified while describing the same fight involving her sister and Depp. “I had heard this rumour from two people and it was fresh in my mind.”

KATE MOSS AND JOHNNY DEPP’S RELATIONSHIP

Kate Moss and Johnny Depp were in a relationship many years ago. However, the ex-couple called it quits in 1997. Kate and Depp often indulged in cute PDA. However, they also had heated arguments. They were once spotted shouting at each other in public, according to reports. In fact, reports also suggested that one such incident between the duo led to Depp’s arrest.

In 2012, Moss in an interview recalled how she cried for years post their split. “There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. Like if I said, ‘What do I do?’, he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left. I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust,” the supermodel had said.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard met on the sets of The Rum Diary in 2009 and started dating a few years later. In 2015, they got married. In 2016, Heard filed for divorce and alleged that Depp had physically abused her during their marriage under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Depp denied the accusations and stated that Heard was “attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.” Their divorce was finalised in 2017.
