IPL 2024 auction: Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins headline ₹2 crore bracket list as 333 players set to go under the hammer

World Cup winner Mitchell Starc is set for a blockbuster return to the cash-rich league as the Indian Premier League (IPL) announced its final list for the upcoming auction pool ahead of the 2024 season on Monday.

According to the roster shared by the IPL in an official release, as many as 333 players will go under the hammer at the IPL 2024 auction. The IPL 2024 auction will take place in Dubai at the Coca-Cola Arena on December 19. Out of the 333 players, 214 are Indians and 119 are overseas players of which 2 players are from associate nations.

There are 116 capped players, 215 uncapped players and 2 from associate nations. According to the release, a maximum of 77 slots are available with up to 30 spots being slotted for overseas players at the IPL 2024 auction. For the upcoming mini-auction of the cash-rich league, INR 2 crore is the highest reserve price. As many as 23 players have been slotted in the highest bracket for IPL 2024. Thirteen players are headlining the list for the IPL 2024 auction with a base price of INR 1.5 crore.

During the Dubai auction for IPL 2024, some of the biggest stars in world cricket will be up for grabs at INR 2 crore. Superstars Harry Brook, Travis Head, Rilee Rossouw, Steve Smith, Gerald Coetzee, Pat Cummins, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Chris Woakes, Josh Inglis, Lockie Ferguson, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc have the highest reserve price listing for IPL 2024. The likes of Umesh Yadav, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Adil Rashid, Rassie Van der Dussen, James Vince, Sean Abbott, Jamie Overton, Ben Duckett and Mustafizur Rahman are also added to the top reserve price list for the next season.

Starc returns for IPL 2024

As per the final list shared by IPL, Australia’s World Cup 2023 hero Travis Head will feature in the first set of the auction. New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, Australia skipper Cummins, South African cricketer Gerald Coetzee and India’s Shardul Thakur are placed in the second set. Veteran Australian pacer Starc has been listed in the fourth set for the IPL 2024 auction. Starc is expected to spark a bidding war among the 10 teams at the IPL 2024 auction. The Australian pacer last played an IPL game back in 2015. The Australian speedster has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the cash-rich league.

Which team has the highest purse at IPL 2024 auction?

Former winners and last season’s runners-up, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have the highest purse of INR 38.15 crore for the IPL 2024 auction. GT’s rivals Lucknow Super Giants will enter the same auction with the lowest purse of INR 13.15 crore in Dubai. Earlier, the Titans traded their skipper Hardik Pandya to record-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) in the build-up to the mini-auction. The IPL 2024 Auction will start at 1 PM local time.
