Indices open at record highs; Nifty trades above 20,100; Sensex up 250 pts

The domestic equity indices NSE Nifty and S&P BSE Sensex scaled fresh peaks during the opening session on Thursday, September 14, amid buying in all sectoral indices.

The US Consumer Price Index data indicating a likelihood of a pause in the rate hike cycle by the Federal Reserve later this month also boosted investor sentiment.

Last seen, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 149.02 points, or 0.22 per cent at 67,616.01, and the Nifty was up 50.4 points, or 0.25 per cent at 20,120.4.

Among the Nifty 50 stocks, 43 advanced and 3 declined. Nifty Mid Cap 100 and Small Cap 100 traded over half a per cent higher.

On the sectoral front, the Nifty Bank was up 0.32 per cent at 46,057.25.
