India records 1,134 new Covid cases, active tally crosses 7,000 mark

India on Wednesday recorded a single-day rise of 1,134 new Covid cases, with the active case tally surpassing the 7,000 mark, news agency PTI reported quoting Health ministry data.

The number of active cases has increased to 7,026, comprising 0.02% of the total infections, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19%. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.09% while the weekly positivity was pegged at 0.98%.

The total tally of Covid-19 cases has now reached to 4.46 crore (4,46,98,118). The death toll inched to to 5,30,813 with five deaths with one each reported by Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra and one reconciled by Kerala, the health ministry data revealed.

The number recoveries has surged to 4,41,60,279 with the national recovery rate standing at 98.80%.

A total of 92.05 crore Covid-19 test have been conducted so far with 1,03,831 being tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry’s website, 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered to the citizens.

The government has been vigilant amid the spike in cases as there has, however, been a rise in cases of viral influenza across the country and the symptoms are similar to Covid-19 such as sore throat, fever, bodyache, fatigue etc.
