India Ranks In Top 40 Of Travel And Tourism Development Index 2024
India is now ranked 39th out of 119 nations in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024.
This can be seen as a substantial improvement in the rankings. This marks a major improvement from its 54th rank in the 2021 index, which was later revised to 38th due to changes in WEF’s methodology.
The increase in India’s position is a result of both the country’s expanding status as a center for medical and cultural tourism as well as a robust recovery in international travel after the pandemic.
Medical Tourism in India
India is becoming a world leader in reasonably priced medical travel. To make it easier for foreign patients to obtain medical care in India, the Ministry of Health developed the Advantage Healthcare India online.
Indian Gov Initiatives to Increase Tourism
The Ministry of Tourism has provided financial support for tourism initiatives nationwide by supporting infrastructure development through programs including Assistance to Central Agencies, PRASHAD, and Swadesh Darshan.
India’s Rich Cultural History
India’s tourism attraction is bolstered by its rich cultural history, which includes around forty-three World Heritage Sites and fifty-six prospective sites. In order to improve accessibility for visitors, the nation has also made investments in high-speed trains like Vande Bharat, 150 new airports, and 500 new air routes.
India is the leader in South Asia and one of the most popular locations for medical tourism, as seen by its 39th position, which shows a consistent increase in international tourism. This position, which was made possible by favorable government policies and infrastructure upgrades, is a noteworthy accomplishment that demonstrates India’s expanding prominence in the world travel market.
