Experts discuss climate change, devpt bank at int’l conference on BRICS
The 6th International Conference on Development and Governance in the BRICS was organised by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur on Friday.
During the session on “Governance in the Times of Global Turmoil,” moderated by Professor Suresh Babu from IIT Madras— Himanshu Shekhar Mishra, Senior Editor at NDTV India, highlighted the urgent need for coordinated global action on climate change and cllaboration within BRICS to effectively address climate-induced challenges..
Professor N R Bhanumurthy, Vice-Chancellor of BASE University, Bangalore, emphasized India’s leadership in savings and underscored the role of the New Development Bank in addressing post-COVID challenges through global collaboration.
Professor CPG Tapscott from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa, emphasized the necessity for BRICS to reform financial institutions to adapt to a new global order. Professor Alexey G Barabashev from the National Research University, Russia, discussed resource concentration, advocating for promoting tourism within the BRICS framework.
Prof V C Vivekanandan, Vice-Chancellor at HNLU, provided insights into broader themes discussed in the context of BRICS.
Arti Ahuja, Secretary to the Government of India, Labour and Employment, delivered a keynote address on innovation in the BRICS public sector.
