In a major security breach, an assailant opened fire inside Delhi’s Saket court complex on Friday, injuring two people.

“Two persons, a woman and a lawyer, have suffered bullet injuries in the firing incident,” Chandan Chowdhary, DCP South, told Hindustan Times, confirming the shooting.

Giving further details, she identified the injured woman as M Radha, 40, adding that the victim sustained two bullet injuries in her abdomen and one in her hand, and was taken to Max Hospital in Saket, where her condition is ‘stable.’

The suspected attacker, Chowdhary said, was earlier debarred by the Bar Council, and had an IPC 420 (cheating) case against the woman and one advocate Rajender Jha, and the hearing was scheduled in Saket court today.

The officer, however, did not clarify if the lawyer injured in the firing was advocate Jha or another lawyer.

Visuals circulating on social media, meanwhile, showed the woman bleeding from her stomach, writhing in pain

“The accused escaped via the canteen back entry after firing 4-5 rounds. There is no law and order at the scene and teams have been formed to nab the accused,” said DCP South.
