Char Dham Yatra update: Over 6 lakh pilgrims register for the yatra in less than a month
If reports are to go by, more than 6 lakh people have already registered for the next Char Dham Yatra. This number is as per the data released by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB).
As reported earlier, pilgrims will need to register themselves for the Char Dhan Yatra this year. The process is already ongoing for the yatra, which is all set to start in April this year.
To make the entire process simpler, UTDB is offering the registration facility to the devotees through smartphone app, web portal, WhatsApp and toll-free number.
Reportedly, the registration process is carried out in accordance with the devotees’ needs. This is aimed to ease tracking of pilgrims, redressal of pilgrim travel grievances, and more conveniences.
Further, the administration will be issuing tokens this year to registered devotees for darshan to avoid overcrowding. The tokens will let them wait for their turn without standing in the queue till the number given on these tokens appears on the display.
Revealing more about this, Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj stated that they are optimistic that this year’s yatra would surpass last year’s yatra’s record in terms of registration and footfalls. He added that this time, they have made special provisions for each registered devotee while keeping their conveniences in mind.
The devotees will be able to tour each dham with ease with the tokens given to them, he added.
Do note that only those who have registered will be getting tokens. Mr Maharaj has strongly advised everyone who is planning to visit Char Dham to register to avail benefit of all the facilities while on the yatra.
If reports are to go by, a total of 6,13,624 registrations for Char Dham Yatra have been done so far, and the process started on February 21.
