Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, Sundance, and Clermont-Ferrand Submissions to Screen in TISFF
The short films submitted to film festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, Clermont-Ferrand, Edinburgh, Tirana, Oberhausen, Tampre, and Fribourg will be screened in the 39th round of Tehran International Film Festival as well.
Prominent short films from all around the globe made in the past two years and screened in prestigious international film festivals will be featured in the international category of the 39th edition of Tehran International Film Festival which is an Oscar-qualified event, vying for the statue, Grand Prix, and the two-thousand-dollar prize granted in this cinematic event.
Some of these short films screening in the 39th edition of Tehran International Film Festival are as follows:
1. The short fiction film “Same Old” directed by Lloyd Lee Choi from the United States, in the short film competition category of the 74th round of Cannes, France, 2021.
2. The short animated film “Humans Are Dumber When Crammed Up Together” directed by Laurène Fernandez from France, in the short film competition category of the 75th round of Cannes, 2022.
3. The short animated film “The Bones” directed by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña from Chile, in the 78th round of Venice international film festival, Italy, 2022.
4. The short experimental film “Parasite Family” directed by Prapat Jiwarangsan from Thailand, in the 73rd Berlinale, Germany, 2022.
5. “The Headhunter’s Daughter” directed by Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan from the Philippines, winner of the short films jury’s Grand Prix in Sundance, the US, 2022.
6. The short film “Please Leave a Message After the Tone” directed by Risto-Pekka Blom from Finland, in the 51st round of Tampre international film festival, 2021.
7. The short animated film “Salvation Has No Name” directed by Joseph Wallace from the United Kingdom, in the 2022 Edinburgh, Scotland international film festival.
8. The short fiction film “Fatjona” directed by Steve Bache from Germany, in the 20th round of Tirana, Albania international film festival, 2022.
9. The short fiction film “Malabar” directed by Maximilian Badier Rosenthal from France, in the national competition category of the 44th round of Clermont-Ferrand international film festival, 2021.
10. The short animated film “Disconnected Head” directed by Andreas Hans Duerr from Germany, in the 68th round of Oberhausen, Germany international short film festival, 2021.
11. The short fiction film “Murder Tongue” directed by Ali Sohail Jaura from Pakistan, in the main competition category of the 36th round of Fribourg, Switzerland international film festival.
Tehran International Short Film Festival is a preliminary event to the Academy Awards and is Oscar-qualified. The 39th edition of this film fest will screen 64 short films in categories of fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental films, from filmmakers of 32 countries in the world such as the US, France, Chile, Argentina, Japan, Germany, Austria, China, the UK, Italy, Poland, Lebanon, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, India, Spain, Finland, Switzerland, Denmark, Thailand, Croatia, Hungary, the Philippines, Lithuania, Pakistan, Morocco, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Iraq, Turkey, and Iran, presided over by Mehdi Azarpendar, CEO of Iranian Youth Cinema Society. Attended in-person, the festival is set to screen 64 films by directors from 32 countries as well as 99 Iranian shorts, held from October 19-24, 2022, at Mellat cinema complex, Tehran.
