The Foreign Office has issued a “do not travel warning” for 24 countries, urging UK holidaymakers to not travel there and putting the destinations on the off-limit list. At present, the Foreign Office strongly advises against all but essential travel to 24 ‘blacklisted’ destinations.

The destinations include Afghanistan, Belarus, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Chad, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, and Niger. Also on the list are North Korea, Palestinian territories, Russia, Somalia, Somaliland, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Yemen.

In its advisory for Afghanistan, the UK Foreign Office warns that “the security situation is volatile” and travel through the country is extremely dangerous. Remember, your travel insurance may be invalidated if you travel against Foreign Office advice, and consular support may be limited in some cases.

In its latest warning amid the war in Ukraine, the UK Foreign Office has extended its Ukraine warning. It says: “The FCDO now advises against all but essential travel to the western regions (oblasts) of Lviv, Volyn, Rivne, and Zhytomyr and against all travel to within 50km of the borders of Volyn, Rivne and Zhytomyr with Belarus. The FCDO continues to advise against all but essential travel to Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Chernivtsi and against all travel to the rest of Ukraine.”

For Haiti, the government says: “FCDO advises against all travel to Haiti due to the volatile security situation. There are currently no British consular officials in Haiti and our ability to provide consular assistance is severely limited and cannot be delivered in person in Haiti.”
