Sensex gains 300 pts, Nifty trades near 19,600 levels; Adani Ports top gainer, TCS, HUL lose
Domestic equities started recovery a day after broad selling as key indices jumped higher on Tuesday. BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 295.92 points, or 0.45 per cent to 65,808.31, while broader NSE Nifty50 gained 83.80 points, or 0.43 per cent in the morning session to 19,596.15.
Barring India Vix, all broader market indices opened in green. Nifty Smallcap 250 gained 0.82 per cent, Nifty Microcap 250 jumped 1.06 per cent, followed by Nifty Smallcap 100 at 0.79 per cent, Nifty Midsmallcap 400 at 0.74 per cent, Nifty Midcap 100 at 0.71 per cent, and Nifty Smallcap 50 at 0.65 per cent.
Sectorally, only the Nifty Healthcare Index was trading in negative in the morning session, as Nifty PSU Bank gained 1.29 per cent, Nifty Metal jumped 0.90 per cent, Nifty Auto at 0.75 per cent, Nifty Realty climbed 0.73 per cent, and Nifty Media rose 0.70 per cent.
Adani Ports was the top gainer in the morning session as the stock over 2.50 per cent after it plunged over 5 per cent a day over amid the Israel-Palestine war.
Other stocks which were the top gainers in the morning session were Tata Motors, M&M, Hero MotoCorp, Adani Enterprises, Coal India, ONGC, SBI Life, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Life.
Stocks which were trading in red in the opening session were Dr Reddys, TCS, Cipla, Divis Lab, Asian Paints, Infosys, Sun Pharma, and Britannia.
