Sensex gains over 100 pts, Nifty advances to 19,435; Adani Power jumps 5%; Jio Financial slumps 5%
Key domestic indices opened flat in positive on Tuesday amid mixed global cues. BSE benchmark Sensex opened at 65,272.42, while broader NSE Nifty50 started at 19,417.10. By 9.40 am, Sensex was trading 121.78 points, or 0.19 per cent higher at 65,337.87, while Nifty50 was up 41.70 points, or 0.22 per cent to trade at 19,435.30.
Adani Power jumped 5 per cent in the opening trade after the company said it is targeting 21,110 MW thermal capacity by FY2029.
Shares of Union Bank of India jumped over 1 per cent to Rs 92.80 after the state-owned lender said its Board approved the raising of funds up to Rs 5,000 crore through the issue of equity shares via qualified institutions placement.
Jio Financial Services continued its downward rally, and slipped 5 per cent for the second day after listing. Jio Financial Services was trading at Rs 236.45 on NSE.
Broader markets were outperforming, as all indices were trading in green, Nifty Smallcap 50 rose 0.77 per cent, Nifty Midcap 100 gained 0.66 per cent, Nifty Midcap 150 jumped 0.65 per cent, and Nifty Midsmallcap 400 climbed 0.63 per cent.
Sectorally, Nifty IT slumped 0.13 per cent, while all other indices were trading in green. Nifty Metal gained 0.96 per cent, Nifty Auto climbed 0.57 per cent, Nifty Financial Services 25/50 gained 0.49 per cent, and Nifty Realty jumped 0.42 per cent.
