The flood situation in Assam worsens further in the last 24 hours due to which the number of affected people rose up to 5 lakh 73 thousand 938 including one more death reported from Morigaon district.
The flood situation in several districts of north Bihar remains grim as all the major rivers in the area are in spate. The river Ganga is on rising from Buxar to Kahalgaon. The train services on Samastipur-Darbhanga rail section have been disrupted as the water level of the Kareh river is touching the girder of a rail bridge in Hayaghat. 14 trains have been canceled while some other have been re-routed.
In Assam, 1 lakh 10 thousand affected people are from Nalbari, the highest amongst all other districts followed by Lakhimpur and Darang district. A number of flood-hit villages have also become 1,278 under 61 revenue circle in 22 districts where Morigaon toped in this regard with 187 villages.
105 relief camps and distribution centers have been set up so far across the state where above 4000 people are taking shelter.
Rescue teams in the last 24 hours have evacuated above 1000 people along with 1456 animals by boats.
In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has surveyed some flood-affected areas in Darbhanga on Tuesday.
The river Ganga is flowing above the danger mark in Gandhi ghat in Patna and Hathidah. Kosi and Mahananda rivers are playing havoc in several districts. In Gopal Ganj water of the river Gandak has entered around 10 thousand houses. The discharge from Kosi and valmikinagar barrages remain above normal. In all, over 100 panchayats are inundated with floodwater.
