Sensex slips 100 pts, Nifty down at 19,800 levels ahead of Jio Financial Services listing; IndusInd Bank shines
Domestic equities opened flat on Thursday as investors eyed the listing of Jio Financial Services and amid the special pre-open session for Reliance Industries.
BSE benchmark Sensex opened 23.10 points, or 0.03 per cent lower at 67,074.34, while broader NSE Nifty50 opened 2.40 points, or 0.01 per cent at 19,830.75.
By 9.20 am, Sensex slipped 106.08 points, or 0.16 per cent to 66,991.36, while Nifty50 was trading 28.60 points, or 0.14 per cent lower at 19,804.55.
IndusInd Bank continued its rally, and was the top gainer during the opening session, after the private lender’s June quarter net profit jumped 30 per cent to Rs 2,124.50 crore.
Majority of broader market indices were trading in green, as Nifty Smallcap 250 gained 0.25 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 50 jumped 0.21 per cent, and Nifty Midsmallcap 400 was up 0.19 per cent.
Sectorally, the PSU Bank index gained 0.62 per cent, while media index jumped 0.50 per cent, and Nifty Realty climbed 0.35 per cent. Meanwhile, the IT index slipped 0.67 per cent, FMCG tanked 0.27 per cent and the auto index fell 0.20 per cent.
PowerGrid, Dr Reddys, IndusInd Bank, SBI Life, Adani Ports, Divis Lab, NTPC, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, BPCL and JSW Steel were the top gainers in the opening trade.
