Markets at fresh high: Sensex touches 67,089, Nifty50 hits 19,829; NTPC, IndusInd Bank, Infy shine

Domestic indices climbed in the opening session on Wednesday supported by global sentiment and healthy June quarter results. BSE benchmark Sensex opened 213.45 points, or 0.32 per cent to 67,008.59, NSE Nifty50 gained 54.30 points, or 0.27 per cent to stay above the 19,800 mark, at 19,803.55.

Sensex hit a record high of 67,088.73 in the opening session, while Nifty50 scaled a fresh peak of 19,828.90.

By 9.30 am, Sensex was trading 275.15 points, or 0.41 per cent higher at 67,070.29, while Nifty50 rose 72.30 points, or 0.37 per cent to trade at 19,821.55.

All broader market indices were trading in green in the opening session, as Nifty Smallcap 250 jumped 0.52 per cent, Nifty Microcap 250 gained 0.50 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 100 climbed 0.48 per cent, and Nifty Smallcap 50 gained 0.37 per cent.

Except for pharma and healthcare indices, all sectors were also trading in green, as Nifty IT climbed 0.67 per cent, Nifty Private Bank jumped 0.56 per cent, Nifty Consumer Durables gained 0.52 per cent, and the media index rose 0.35 per cent.

IndusInd Bank jumped nearly 3 per cent after the private sector lender yesterday reported a 30 per cent in its consolidated net profit for the June quarter to Rs 2,124.50 crore.

NTPC, IndusInd Bank, Infosys, Apollo Hospital, Wipro, BPCL, Tech Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Grasim, JSW Steel, Divis Lab, Adani Enterprises, and Adani Ports were among the top gainers in the morning session.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki, Cipla, Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp, HDFC Life, Hindalco, Nestle India, Bharti Airtel, M&M, and Bajaj Finserv were the top losers at this time.
