Therefore, beachy holidays and time under the sun require us to take extra care of our skin. With the sun’s harsh UV rays, humidity, and sweat; our skin can become dull, dry, and damaged. Also, a few other problems we face in our day-to-day routine are sunburnt skin, open pores, acne and tanning.

However, with a few simple skincare hacks, we can keep our skin glowing and healthy all summer. Also, before switching to a summer skincare routine, it’s important to know what our skin type is- oily skin, dry skin, combination skin, or normal skin. Once you know your skin type, it’s easier to pick the products.

1. Protect your skin with SPF

One of the most important things we can do for our skin during summer is to wear sunscreen with at least SPF 30 or higher every day. Apply sunscreen 15-30 minutes before sun exposure. This will help protect your skin from harmful UV rays that can cause sunburn, premature ageing, and tanning.

2. Hydrate from the inside out

Summer heat can quickly dehydrate our skin, so it’s essential to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Carrying a water bottle with you every time you step out is essential since the body loses a lot of water due to sweating under the sun. Also, water-rich fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, cucumber, and strawberries will provide hydration. They supply the body with extra nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants. Staying hydrated will help keep our skin remain plump, and radiant and prevent fine lines and wrinkles too.

3. Massage enough and keep it lightweight

Massaging your face for 5 minutes in an upward motion before makeup will reduce puffiness and drain water retention. During summer, switch to lightweight skincare products that won’t clog the pores and feel heavy on the skin. Opt for lightweight moisturizers, serums, and sunscreen that are water-based and non-greasy. It’s great to keep the makeup base light too.

4. Exfoliate regularly

Sweat and heat can cause a build-up of dead skin cells, which can clog the pores and lead to breakouts. To avoid this, exfoliate your skin at least once a week. Make sure to use a gentle exfoliator that suits your skin type to remove the dead skin cells and reveal smooth and glowing skin.

5. Use a face mist

A face mist is an excellent way to keep your skin hydrated and refreshed during summer. Keep a bottle of face mist in your bag and spritz it on your face throughout the day to keep the skin cool and hydrated.

6. Soothe sunburns

If you do get a sunburn, apply aloe vera gel or aloe vera ice cubes on the face twice a week. It will also benefit in getting rid of acne-causing bacteria and reduce inflammation. It’s a joy to rub it all over occasionally, it makes the skin super happy.

7. Get rid of pimples

Use green tea ice cubes to get rid of pimples. Make your green tea as you normally would. Add essential oil and put the water in an ice cube tray. Make sure the tray is absolutely clean before refrigerating it.

8. Clay mask

A good clay mask must-have skincare product to tackle summer breakouts if you have oily skin. It soaks up all excess sebum and deep cleanses the skin to avoid clogged pores and pimples.

9. Take care of your lips

Don’t forget to protect your lips from the sun as well. Always keep a lip balm with SPF 15 or higher to keep your lips moisturized and protected from UV rays.

These summer skincare hacks help me to keep my skin glowing and healthy throughout the summer. With a little extra care, you can also enjoy a beautiful, healthy, and radiant complexion all summer long.
