Sensex gains 443 pts at open, Nifty trades near 17,120 level; TCS slips, PSB, metal stocks gain

Dometic equities inched higher on Friday as Swiss regulators pledged a liquidity lifeline to Credit Suisse, improving market sentiments globally.

BSE benchmark Sensex rose 443.27 points, or 0.77 per cent, to open at 58,078.11, while NSE Nifty50 gained 147.80 points, or 0.87 per cent, to trade at 17,133.40.

Broader markets also extended gains as Nifty Microcrap 250 gained 1.02 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 50 rose 0.97 per cent, and Nifty Next Next 50 climbed 0.96 per cent. Defying the trends, India Vix was down 5.79 per cent at open.

Metal stocks were the top gainers at open as the sector climbed 1.42 per cent, followed by PSB stocks, which rose 1.20 per cent. IT stocks gained 1.06 per cent, while private bank stocks rose 1.04 per cent.

Adani stocks rallied in morning trade, as Adani Enterprises climbed 2.21 per cent, Adani Ports was up 0.60 per cent, and Adani Green hit 5 per cent upper circuit limit.

Infosys, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Ultra Cement, HCLTech, HDFC Life were among the top gaining stocks at opening trade.

Meanwhile, Hero Motocorp, Bharti Airtel, Eicher Motors, BPCL, TCS were among the top losers.

TCS tanked 0.42 per cent on the report of its chief Rajesh Gopinathan’s resignation. Zee Entertainment tanked 2.30 per cent after a report said the company will clear its dues against the IndusInd Bank.
