India vs Australia 4th Test, Day 4: Virat Kohli’s glorious 186 takes IND to 571, lead by 91 runs vs AUS

In response to Australia’s first innings score of 480, India posted 571 on Day 4 of the ongoing fourth and final Test, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

With Virat Kohli departing for 186, India were bowled out for 571, due to the absence of Shreyas Iyer. Kohli had already bagged a half-century on Day 3 and then bagged his 28th Test ton in the ongoing post-Lunch session and then brought up his 150 in the final session.

Batting with Mohammed Shami, Kohli lost his wicket for 186 off 364 balls, falling to Todd Murphy in the final session. In reaching his ton, Kohli ended his Test ton drought, having last achieved the feat in November 2019.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja, who resumed batting with Kohli on Day 4, lost his wicket to Todd Murphy in the first session, registering 28 runs. Also, Nathan Lyon struck for Australia in the post-Lunch session to take wicket of KS Bharat.

The veteran spinner also accounted for the wicket of Umesh Yadav in the final session. In the ongoing final session, Mitchell Starc got Axar Patel’s wicket, who departed for 79 off 113 balls. India began with an overnight score of 289/3.
