The making of Athiya Shetty’s wedding lehenga

Athiya Shetty, who tied the knot with KL Rahul in front of a 70 people guest list, wore a subtle pink Anamika Khanna chikankari lehenga. This delicate piece is handmade, handwoven and made in silk with zardozi and jaali work. It also features a veil and dupatta made of silk organza replete with intricate handiwork. In an interview with Vogue, the designer Anamika Khanna revealed the lehenga “is a labour of love and took approximately 10,000 hours to make.” Check out the beautiful pictures from the wedding below.

Anamika also talked about the inspiration behind the wedding lehenga and revealed it was Athiya Shetty herself. She added, “Athiya’s got extremely fine, subtle, and beautiful taste. I wanted to develop something special for her that was resonant with the fact that she was going to be the bride, but she was never going to be that bride for whom everything else takes over. She has a very strong personality, and I think she’s acutely aware of it.”

Anamika Khanna added, “Nothing is screaming for attention [with the lehenga], and yet, it’s just so her. Safe to say that it is not an outfit she will get bored of even in the coming years.” The designer left no stone unturned to create this exquisite piece for Athiya Shetty.

Meanwhile, Athiya harboured the essence of old-world charm with less is more trend to style the wedding lehenga. She picked blush pink eyeshadow, nude pink lips and eyelids lined with kohl for the glam picks. Maximal mehendi design, a heavy choker necklace, mang tika, earrings, bangles, and a centre-parted bun rounded it all off.
