Ana de Armas transforms into Marilyn Monroe in behind the scenes images of ‘Blonde’
In recent images from the set of the upcoming biopic “Blonde,” Ana de Armas becomes the legendary Marilyn Monroe.
On Wednesday, the naturally brunette 34-year-old Cuban actress shared snippets of her transformation on Instagram.
She praised her male co-stars, Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller, respectively, who play Marilyn Monroe’s ex-husbands, saying, “It was such a gift to get to work with actors like @adrienbrody and @bobby cannavale on this beautiful project.”
” Can’t wait for everyone to see the wonderful work they do in this film. New trailer coming out tomorrow,” she teased.
The first still in De Armas’ post is a recreation of a 1957 photograph of Monroe and Miller that was taken candidly close to a wooden fence. She adopts Monroe’s style by donning a blue polka-dot dress and carrying flowers.
The second image shows Armas and Cannavale cuddling up on top of a bookshelf on a windowsill during filming.
About “Blonde”
The psychological drama, which has a two-hour, 46-minute runtime and is rated NSFW NC-17, will give fans a comprehensive look at the ascent and fall of Hollywood’s most recognizable face.
“It’s an NC-17 movie about Marilyn Monroe. It’s kind of what you want, right? I want to go and see the NC-17 version of the Marilyn Monroe story,” said the film’s director, Andrew Dominik.
The story is based on the same-titled book by Joyce Carol Oates, published in 2000. Before, there was a scene that allegedly involved oral sex and menstruation, but Dominik dismissed that as a “hilarious” rumor. There is a rape scene, though.
