Climate change, tech on PM Modi’s agenda at talks with Nordic nations during Denmark visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day visit to European nations, is scheduled to visit Denmark’s Copenhagen on Tuesday, May 3, and meet Danish PM Mette Frederiksen.

He will also participate in the Second India-Nordic Summit with the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, and Norway.

Tuesday’s visit to Denmark will be PM Modi’s first to the Nordic nation.

Sharing a video on the whirlwind European trip, External Affairs Minister Arindam Bagchi on Tuesday highlighted the various elements of India-Denmark ties, such as the Green Strategic Partnership. The GSP was established in September 2020 and “translated into a results-oriented five-year action plan” during Mette Frederiksen’s visit to India last year.

The video stated that over 200 Danish companies are actively engaged in schemes, such as Make In India, Jal Jeevan Misson, Digital India, etc while over 60 Indian firms in Denmark are cementing business ties between the two nations.

During his visit to Denmark, PM Modi will meet Queen Margrethe II, attend the India-Denmark Business Forum and address the Indian diaspora there.

At the Second India-Nordic Summit, PM Modi will talk to the Nordic nations to strengthen the areas of climate change, renewable energy, and innovation & technology. PM Modi will also hold bilateral talks with the Prime Ministers of Iceland (Katrin Jacobsdottir), Norway (Jonas Gahr Store), Finland (Sanna Marin), and Sweden (Magdalena Andersson).

On the first leg of his visit, PM Modi met German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday.
