India Vs New Zealand Champions Trophy 2025 : IND Defeat NZ By 4 Wickets
A nervy finish ensued, but Ravindra Jadeja had the final say, sweeping Will O’Rourke’s delivery down fine leg for a four to seal a 4-wicket win for India!
INDIA ARE THE 2025 ICC CHAMPIONS TROPHY WINNERS!
Michael Bracewell’s late cameo helped New Zealand set a target of 252 in the Champions Trophy final against India. Despite a dominant display, the BlackCaps were able to keep themselves in the hunt and fancied their chances in the second innings.
After a fiery start from India that saw the likes of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill bring up the 100-run partnership with ease, NZ spinners turned their fortunes around, scalping Gill and Kohli in succession to finally pressure the Indians to slow down on their scoring.
Rohit, who seemed to be in fine form for a potential century, was left bamboozled by a wide turner from Rachin, which led to his downfall as Latham removed the bails off with ease to stump him.
Shreyas Iyer then took on the role of the aggressor, and in tandem with Axar Patel, put up a fabulous fifty partnership to steer India out of trouble.
But, Santner’s reintroduction to the bowling attack would find Iyer in a pickle, as the NZ skipper would bamboozle the Indian to remove him and put India under pressure again in the last ten overs.
KL Rahul, along with the help of Hardik Pandya temporarily, would then weather the spin storm, and ideally lead the charge to close the deal in the 49th over, as India won their third Champions Trophy with a 4-wicket win over New Zealand.
