6 Schengen Countries to Gain Visa-Free Access to China From November 8

Starting on November 8, nationals from another six Schengen countries – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Slovakia – will be able to enter China without visas for up to 15 days for tourism, business, family visits, and transit purposes.

Through a statement, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that as soon as the decision becomes effective, passport holders from the countries mentioned above can enter China visa-free until December 31, 2025, Schengen.News reports.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said the decision was made in a bid to further facilitate cross-border travel.

In addition to the six countries mentioned above, from the same date, November 8, nationals from other European countries, Andorra and Monaco, will also be eligible to enter visa-free to China until December 31, 2025.

Last month, Chinese President Xi Jinping, in a meeting held with the President of Finland, Alexander Stub, announced that China would add Finland to its visa-free travel list to further tighten connections between the two countries.

In September this year, the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, met with the President of China, Xi Jinping. During this meeting, the President of China announced that Norwegian nationals would also be able to travel to China without being obliged to apply for a visa at first.

Other European Countries Included on China’s Visa-Free Travel List

In June of this year, China reached an agreement with Poland, permitting Polish nationals to enter without visas for stays of up to 15 days.

At the same time, in March this year, China announced that it would permit visa-free travel entry for nationals of six European countries: Austria, Hungary, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Ireland. Such a decision was set to remain effective until November 30, 2024.

Through the decision, China allowed nationals from the above-mentioned countries to visit China visa-free for tourism, business, visiting relatives or transit purposes.
