Since the news of Sourav Ganguly being anointed as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) broke out, everyone has been asking what will Ravi Shastri, the head coach of the Indian national cricket team, do now.
Every cricket fan knows that the former cricketers have a not so good relationship. But the two gentlemen have made sure that their personal animosity doesn't affect professional judgments.

Ganguly - who will soon assume office - can do what he wants, including the removal of the head coach. In fact, some sections of fans have even asked Ganguly to do the same.

Now while addressing media in Kolkata, Ganguly was questioned about Shastri, and Ganguly came up with a cheeky response.

 ‘What has he done now?’

Ganguly was asked, “Have you spoken with Ravi Shastri?” To this, he replied with a chuckle, “Why? What has he done now?”

Ganguly and Shastri are known to have not seen eye to eye in the past. In 2016, the two had a public row over the selection of the India coach – the role had then been given to Anil Kumble.

“If Shastri thinks I was behind the appointment of Kumble as the coach and not him, then he is living in a fool’s paradise,” Ganguly had said about Ravi Shastri then.

Ganguly has, however, termed Shastri as the right choice for the job and said that the BCCI did not have many choices.

“Ravi is the right choice. They didn’t have too many choices as not many had applied (for the coach’s job)... Ravi has been doing this for five years and has now been given this responsibility for two more years.

I don’t think anyone else in history has got such a long time with the team. He is the right choice, but now he has to repay the faith placed in him.

He has two T20 World Cups coming up (in 2020 and 2021), and in such big tournaments, India needs to find ways to win,” Ganguly had said.

Sourav Ganguly's plans about MS Dhoni's future

Sourav Ganguly expressed his thoughts of discussing with the selection committee about MS Dhoni's future.

Dhoni has not featured for the national side since India's semi-final exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against New Zealand.

India will be taking on Bangladesh in November. The team for the T20I will be officially announced on October 24 and Ganguly wants to have a serious conversation with the BCCI selectors about MSD.

"I will find out from the selectors when I meet them on 24th. I will find out what the selectors are thinking. Then I will put my opinion," Ganguly said on Wednesday.

He added that he would also want to know Dhoni's opinion before they announce anything. "Let's see what Dhoni wants," he said.

Sourav Ganguly on India playing Day-Night Test matches

Sourav Ganguly even expressed his desire to introduce Pink-ball cricket to the Indian cricket. The 47-year-old said that India may opt to play day-night Tests in World Test Championship.

"We will deal with it. It is too early for me to comment on how we will work on this, but let me take office and then we will discuss this with every member," Ganguly said while speaking to IANS.

Sourav also claimed that it may be correct not to see any day-night matches in the ongoing WTC.

"World Test Championship has a day-night Test because Adelaide will host a pink-ball Test. I don't think it is the right call to say that World Test Championship wouldn't have day-night Tests," he opined.
