In Agra, approximately 184 KG silver has been seized by police from a van during search operations.

While, over 15 lakh rupees cash and over 4,000 litres of liquor have been seized from different parts of Mathura district of the state. Nine vehicles engaged in the ferrying of illegal money were also confiscated by the police.

The search were conducted to prevent misuse of money and liquor during the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Election Commission has warned political parties that it will not remain a "silent spectator" and will undertake stern steps if the model code of conduct or poll laws are violated by them during the forthcoming Assembly elections in five states.

The Commission also said peace and tranquility during the polls process is "absolutely essential for free and peaceful conduct of elections in the country."
