Though she works predominantly with canvases, she also  is enjoying its unpredictability, she is open to other mediums. This exhibition will showcase a selection of her works.
Tashi Khan

I was born into a family where art and culture were important and had been important for generations. I  imbibed an early appreciation of the arts from her immediate environment from as far back as i can remember. Poets and artists came and stayed for long periods doing family portraits and art. I  remembers watching spellbound as they worked with brushes, knives and pallets. My parents recognised my  interest and inclination and encouraged me to paint. I  have not looked back.since.
My statement

My work is a dialogue in contemporary times, a narrative that resonates a sense of precariousness that has come to signify our times. If anything, it challenges the sense of the immovable, the permanent. It embraces vulnerability & fragility. The focus shifts from the changes that are observable & felt to those that are often unacknowledged & immutable, a sense that the beliefs & certainties that defined our world have changed irrevocably.
Vijayalakshmi Veerappan grew up in an environment immersed in the arts. Her father Mr. Arun Veerappan was an independent documentary filmmaker and her grandfather Mr. A.V. Meiyappan, founder of AVM studios and productions, needs no introduction. At a very early age, she became a student of Bharathanatyam and went on to perform her arangetram and dance on stages all across India for about 16 years.
She discovered her passion for art simultaneously and majored in Fine Arts at the Stella Maris College, Chennai. She has worked in a variety of mediums from art on fabric to designing and painting on pottery. She has had several exhibitions showcasing her work in these two mediums. Her love for traditional art forms took her to Singapore where she studied Chinese art as well as to the Kumara Rajah Muthiah School of Traditional Arts and Crafts where she learned Tanjore painting.
Her artistic sense drew her also to get a National Diploma in Interior Design which opened up a whole world of opportunities in designing office spaces and private homes. Vijaya, as she is fondly known as, pand her creative team now work on wall murals and custom- made, hand painted furniture which adorn the walls of offices and homes across the city.

Vijaya today has gone back to her first love - canvas and paints in vibrant colours reflecting her fun and positive nature.
Profile-  From a young age, Alka Pandey displayed skills in art, drawing, and painting. Armed with  gumption  and  belief,  she  chose  to  express  herself  on  canvas.  Despite  no  formal education  in  art,  she  has  a  knack  for  using  paints  and  art  to  describe  her  emotions. Starting  with  school  competitions,  she  kept  the  passion  alive  by  working  on  it relentlessly.
Her  paintings  are  an  expression  of  her  moods,  her  faith,  and  her  vision.  She  draws inspiration  from  real  life,  the  mundane,  and  the  simplest  of  things.  Her  raw,  potent imagery pulls audiences of all ages. Every artist has a preferred style and medium. Alka Pandey prefers abstract, flowing visuals and ideas for her paintings.  On this website you will find samples of her work, her bio, her creativity, and the person behind the beauty.
